I’m Dave McKeehen, and I’ve proudly been a part of the Pacific Builders organization since September 1993. I was hired as an estimator by Rick and Fred Degen that year and had the privilege of being personally trained by Fred Degen, the founder of Pacific Builders. Fred was a true pioneer in the industry, starting with window and door awnings before introducing groundbreaking innovations. He created the first awning to cover patio spaces and developed enclosures that allowed people to enjoy the outdoors year-round.

Fred’s vision laid the foundation for the incredible designs and functionality we offer today—ranging from stunning patio covers (solid, lattice, combination styles, and now louvered designs that offer the best of both worlds) to sunrooms, screen rooms, custom exterior products, windows, doors, and even bathroom renovations. His influence continues to shape the work we are so proud to deliver to our community.

After decades of dedication to Pacific Builders, I was honored when Fred’s family presented me with the opportunity to purchase the company in 2020. At the time, in the midst of a challenging pandemic, the thought of this family-owned company—serving the community for over seven decades—no longer being part of it was unimaginable to me. With great pride and responsibility, I finalized the purchase in March 2021 and took on the role of steward for this cherished business.

Today, I’m committed to preserving our rich history and legacy while ensuring we continue to grow and serve our customers with the same passion and quality that have defined us for generations. I’m also proud to share that a member of the third generation of the Degen family still works with us and will always remain an essential part of the company as long as I’m here.
